Canada Goose kids are the product of an iconic company with an interesting and groundbreaking history.  Founded over sixty years ago by Sam Tick, Canada Goose was originally known as Metro Sportswear, specialising in woollen vests, raincoats and snowmobile suits.  It wasn’t until David Reiss, Tick’s son-in-law, joined the company that Canada Goose (originally Snow Goose) became the label we know it as today.  Reiss invented a volume-based down-filling machine which meant that coats could be filled with warm down more easily.  The brand’s first major achievement was the creation of the Expedition Parka (nicknamed ‘Big Red’) in the 1980s, which was created to keep Antarctica’s scientists warm.  The coat was so successful that it became a standard issue piece for the brand and can still be bought today (it’s also the inspiration behind the Canada Goose kids parka).  In the 90s, Reiss’s son Dani joined the company and by 2001 he became the president and CEO.  It’s thanks to Dani that Canada Goose is the global household name we know it as today.  Dani Reiss ensured that Canada Goose would retain it’s ‘made in Canada’ status by opening a global headquarters and large manufacturing factory in Toronto.  Now a household name, Canada Goose still produces its famous collection of warm down-filled coats but has also branched out into more lightweight apparel and knitwear.  Now sixty years in the making, Canada Goose are concentrating on continuing the success of their iconic brand whilst focusing on conservation (they already contribute funds to Polar Bear International) and complete sustainability.
